November 13, 2009 - Tony and Tim of Playerville.com attended the final regular season game for Blanche Ely High School vs. Northeast High School.
Ely was taking a perfect 9-0 record into the game looking to go undefeated, however, the Northeast defense would have the final word. Blanche Ely's heralded QB Michael German was unable to get the offense into the end zone the entire game despite the fact they were able to move the ball at times through short passes and runs but were stymied by penalties.
However, it was not all Tigers miscues as both offenses were hampered by drive killing penalties and strong defense. The score was 0-0 until midway through the fourth quarter when a Northeast defender batted a German pass, caught it, and ran for a touchdown. Unfortunately for the Tigers, perfection was dashed by allowing the underdog Northeast to "hang around" until they seized their opportunity. The Tigers face Wellington next week in the playoffs.
